The new Dehler 41 hits the water

One of the great advantages of Dehler’s tie-up with the Hanse Group is the ability to carry out all new boat development work at Hanse’s amazing high-tech facility at Griefswald in Northern Germany.

All the initial design work on the 41 was carried out here after which the moulds were built.  Of course all this could have been done at Dehler’s facility but it would have taken a lot longer in this, a much smaller yard.  The end result is a truly beautiful new Dehler at a remarkably competitive price.

The first three, which are all  to the full race specification, are being constructed at Griefswald  after which the moulds will be moved to the Dehler yard at Freienohl.
Here the Dehler craftsmen will be producing both the racing and cruising versions of the boat 19 of which have been sold already.

I travelled to Griefswald in May to sail hull no.1 with a group of Dehler dealers from all over Europe.  At first glance she is typically Dehler – beautifully proportioned with slick, sharp lines that instantly say performance.  Motoring out into the Baltic the steering felt pin-sharp and this persisted after hoisting the sails and bearing away to pick up a 10-15 knot quite gusty breeze.  Once sheeted in she accelerated like a greyhound  and even in strong gusts remained perfectly balanced and under control.  After sailing we all agreed that this is a very fast boat indeed and will do great things in top-level regattas but, most importantly, will make a great express family cruising boat – she even has an option of a fixed cockpit table and drop-down transom/bathing platform plus a choice of interior layouts.

This particular boat recently took part in the RORC North Sea Regatta in a hot fleet of 53 boats.  In this, her first race and completely untried on the race track,  finished in 5th overall beating all the Xs, Js, Beneteaus, Dufours, Jeanneaus, Elans and various one-offs – pretty impressive and an good indication of her potential in future top level events.

A 41 will be on display at the Southampton Boat Show next September.

Dehler 45 and Dehler 29 demonstration boats

Our beautiful demonstration Dehler 45 and Dehler 29 are for sale – they are with us at Hamble Point Marina and could be bought at a massive saving.  We would be happy to trade in an existing Dehler so for anyone thinking of moving up this could be the perfect opportunity. For more details contact me on 02380 455741 or email andyh@dehler.co.uk

Dehler 32 boat test See the March issue Sailing Today for a test - they found her to be a stiff and fast boat that is good value for money.

Spare Parts Dehler Owners will continue with the supply of spare parts for yachts produced until last year with Andy taking care of parts for all new boats delivered from now on.
